Animal science
- Certificate II in Animal Studies (Traineeship) – ACM20110
Animal Care Assistant working in pet shops, grooming services, boarding facilities, pounds, zoos and wildlife centres. This qualification reflects the role of a junior or assistant animal attendant who provides support to the senior worker. Duties include general animal care, feeding and handling. Provision of electives enables the learner to begin specialisation.
- Certificate III in Companion Animal Services (Traineeship) – ACM30410
Employees work in an environment caring for and/or selling companion animals and animal products and services. Main duties include feeding, watering and diet preparation, providing advice to customers on animal selection and care and operating retail equipment including point of sale procedures. This is the industry qualification for persons operating within a companion animal organisation, for example kennel, cattery, refuge and pet shop.
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (Traineeship) – ACM40410
A person undertaking this traineeship will gain skills and knowledge to be able to supervise staff and clinic, make management decisions (e.g. carry out triage practices), identify and interpret vital signs and conduct practice office operations.

A traineeship is the starting point for a rewarding career in the aged care industry. Learn the skills and knowledge required to provide assistance and support to older members of the community by assisting them to maintain their independence, providing personal care in their own homes, or in a residential care facility.Trainees will participate in implementing individualised care plans, supporting personal health and emotional well-being, recognising healthy body systems and working effectively in the community sector.

Horticulture and environment
- Certificate II in Sports Turf Management (Traineeship) – ACH20910
BNIT's Turf Management traineeship provides an entry level point into the area of green keeping. Trainees can use the traineeship as a stepping stone towards undertaking a green keeping apprenticeship. Turf Management trainees will assist in establishing and maintaining fine turf, grassed areas used for sport. They may undertake or assist in the following tasks:
- maintain irrigation systems, establish grassed areas, paying attention to special soil requirements of those areas
- mow, roll and level surfaces, using appropriate equipment or machines, control pests, weeds and diseases
- repair old or damaged areas, plant and maintain trees, shrubs and flower beds and trim hedges and lawns
- install nets, posts and stumps or mark out lines ready for games, construct and/or maintain cricket wickets, tennis courts, bowling greens, croquet greens and golf greens, bunkers and tees according to plans and specifications.
Turf Management trainees may work at a variety of locations such as golf courses, bowling clubs, tennis courts and cricket wickets, ovals and racecourses, sports playing fields, recreational parks and grounds, and also in lawn maintenance operations.

An apprentice in this program will undertake a variety of duties which may include:
- supervising landscape maintenance
- setting out landscape works
- building landscape features with concrete, timber, brick, stone and metal
- installing irrigation and drainage
- operating specialised machinery and equipment.
- Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (Apprenticeship) – AC31310
Greenkeepers establish and maintain fine turf and grassed area surfaces used for sport. Greenkeepers may perform the following tasks:

Gain the skills and experience to be competent in introductory Information and Communications Technology (ICT) technical functions. This traineeship is designed to support information activities in the workplace and to achieve a degree of self-sufficiency as an advanced ICT user, with options of Network Administration, Applications and Support streams.

Through undertaking this traineeship, you will gain the skills and knowledge to become competent in a variety of information technology support roles with the option of specialising in Help Desk or Database Administration.

This traineeship focuses on the networking aspects of IT by developing skills and knowledge in the installation and management of simple networks. Individuals will become effective in network management, either as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team.

Logistics
- Certificate III in Transport and Logistics (Warehousing and Storage) (Traineeship) – TLI30107
This traineeship is applicable for a role in general warehouse duties such as housekeeping, receipting, stock locating, stock maintenance, stock replenishment, forklift operation, order picking, packaging, stocktaking and reconciliation and order checking and dispatch.
It also involves known routines, methods and procedures where some discretion and judgment is required in the selection of equipment, services or contingency measures.
- Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Warehousing and Storage) (Traineeship) TLI40107
Applicable to existing workers only.
This is a general qualification within the warehousing and storage industry. Duties will include but are not limited to the coordination of stock takes, organisation and transport of freight goods, supervision of load handling, resource management, coordination of customer services and the implementation of occupational health and safety procedures.

Pest management

This course reflects the role of pest controllers. It covers quotation and delivery of a pest management program, maintenance of equipment in a storage area and/or controlled pest management vehicle, responding to customer enquiries, assessing pest management options, modification of environments to manage pests, application of pesticides, testing and monitoring a pest program.

Gain the skills and knowledge to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring retail operational knowledge and practical skills. Undertake work in various retail store settings such as specialty stores, supermarkets, department stores and retail fast food outlets. Individuals may work with some autonomy or in a team but usually under close supervision.
Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as providing product and service advice in a retail store, sell products and services in a variety of retail settings, operate a checkout area including cash handling functions, prepare and sell fast food items, store, rotate and replenish food stocks, check stock and replenish retail shelves as well as organise and maintain work areas and displays.

Gain the skills and knowledge to be competent in retail operations and/or supervisory roles with the need to apply discretion and judgment. Undertake work in various retail store settings such as specialty stores, supermarkets, department stores and retail fast food outlets. Individuals may have some responsibility for others and provide specific coordination or support within a store team.
Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as providing in-depth product and service advice in a retail environment, selling products and services in variety of retail settings, supervising a checkout area, leading a team preparing and selling fast food items, leading a department team within a large store or supermarket, acting as an assistant to a manager of a small to medium store, organising and maintaining work areas and displays, and carrying out specific responsibilities such as merchandising.
Entry requirements - SIR 20207 Certificate II in Retail (core units only) or sufficient previous industry experience.

Gain the skills and knowledge to be competent in first line management working in the retail and/or wholesale industries. This traineeship applies to those who are managing a small retail outlet, a section or department within a larger retail store, a small wholesale outlet, or a section or department within a larger wholesale business.
Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as managing a small to medium retail store group or franchise outlet, managing an independent retail store, managing a wholesale outlet, departmental/section management in a retail or wholesale business, functional management roles, such as merchandise management, and management of an inside or outside sales team in a wholesale business.
