Entry requirements

• English Language Proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other - Click here for a list of all English Language test accepted by TAFE Queensland International
• Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.  Click here for more information on the international education achievement levels equivalent to Year 10 and 12.

Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Student visa applicants under the age of 18 will be accepted where they demonstrate that they will be accompanied by a parent, legal custodian or a suitable relative who is aged 21 or over. Resources required

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

TAFE Queensland | Gold Coast:

Students are required to purchase the following resources (teachers will provide details including suitable models and suppliers for each listed item during relevant class times):

  • 1 x 1TB external hard drive to store/backup all class project files and learning resources (approximately $200)
  • Personal stationery
  • Text book: ‘Producing Videos: A Complete Guide’ by Martha Mollison 3rd Edition. ISBN 978-1742370569 (approximately $50).  This is not compulsory but is highly recommended.
  • Various industry memberships will be recommended

Courses may require different resources, depending on your study location.

Timetables may be available online or may be provided to you at your program orientation.

Your timetable may change every semester and you must be able to manage your commitments to ensure attendance at all your classes.

Timetables will be different across TAFE Queensland locations. This is an example of what a course timetable could look like -  

Monday and Tuesday 8.00 am - 4.45 pm and Wednesday 8.00 am - 12.00 pm.

Or

Wednesday and Thursday 8.00 am - 4.45 pm and Friday 8.00 am - 12.00 pm

TAFE Queensland | Gold Coast

This course is delivered full-time for 12 months (2 semesters) at Coomera, A Block, Level 4, Room A.04.008. Classes are held on Thursday and Friday from 8.00am-5.15pm. (Timetable subject to change.)

A combination of face-to-face and tutorial sessions is offered at TAFE Queensland Gold Coast as delivery techniques for theory and practical sessions involving small groups and individual activities. Where possible, sessions are conducted within a simulated workplace environment. The computer labs are equipped with Apple Workstations, Windows and Dell Precision Workstations.

The notional duration of the course in hours is:

Supervised: 640 hours in the classroom (applied learning – demonstration and application, activities, collaborative projects, group discussion)

Non-supervised: 560 hours out of classroom (content exploration and meaning – lecture screencast and videos, YouTube videos, Wikipedia articles and websites)

Volume of learning: 1200 hours

 

Placement

Some qualifications require students to participate in vocational placement to successfully complete and achieve their TAFE Queensland award. If vocational placement is a course requirement it will be organised by your School/Faculty and you will be provided with all the information you need to prepare. Remember you are responsible for ensuring you have met all the requirements to participate in vocational placement.

During these placements, you may become familiar with information that is confidential to that workplace (for example financial or business affairs, personal affairs and family background of staff and clients, technical information, trade secrets, know-how, formulae, processes, ideas, and inventions). You must not divulge any confidential information that you become aware of during a placement. Breaches of confidentiality will be considered to be acts of behavioural misconduct and may result in disciplinary action.

If your application is successful, we will send you an Offer of Place letter. To accept it and secure your place in your chosen program, you will need to:

After you have accepted your Offer of Place, you will receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and with your CoE you can apply for your student visa. You will need to arrange your student visa before you come to Australia.

Please note that International Orientation day is compulsory. Students must attend the International Orientation Day before commencing their studies with TAFE Queensland.

Orientation

At the beginning of each semester orientation events are hosted across TAFE Queensland locations.

TAFE Queensland recommends you arrive two weeks prior to your course start date to allow time to organise and settle into your accommodation and prepare for your studies.

International Orientation which is usually conducted the week before study commences will help answer many of your questions about studying with TAFE Queensland. This comprehensive orientation covers many important topics including
