Our facilitators
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE selects and ensures that facilitators and assessors for the delivery of training programs are suitably qualified and meet all the training delivery requirements. The selection process is based on competencies, capabilities and experience. We consider issues such as content expertise, qualifications, teaching experience, availability and understanding of the learning environment when selecting facilitators to deliver services to our clients.
Our training facilitators are nationally and internationally qualified and certified industry professionals. All facilitators employed by Brisbane North Institute of TAFE have significant industry expertise in their content areas and experience in conducting industry training and assessment. The institute ensures its subject matter expertise is at the highest standard through industry validation processes such as:
- 5 years experience in training delivery
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
- 5 years subject matter expertise at level
These are the minimum requirements that are required for the institute to be registered to deliver, assess and issue qualifications in an accredited training program.
All trainers involved in the development and delivery of training are required to go through an induction phase providing them with an in-depth background to training participants, the training environment and specific client requirements.

Our quality systems and processes ensure that our staff take a consistent planned approach to the tasks they undertake, and that they continuously strive to achieve best practice in their provision of service.
Accelerated Industry Workshops
Workshops are often tailored to provide gap training to industry experienced participants who have gained significant knowledge 'on the job' in their chosen field. Training can be delivered in a blended mode consisting of:
- Workshop Sessions - Workshops are interactive incorporating both theory and practical components, including case studies, group discussions and activities. We encourage active participation allowing participants to actively apply new information to their experience and their workplace. This participatory action learning approach increases the relevance, reinforces learning and knowledge retention and allows rapid application of new skills and knowledge in the workplace.
- Self-directed Learning - Participants are instructed in the process of self-directed learning to broaden their skills, knowledge and to encourage ownership of their learning.
- Mentoring Support - Throughout training delivery, participants can be supported via the phone or email by a content expert.
- Assessment Strategies - Assessment is a combination of written evidence through case studies and work-based projects. Participants are encouraged to align their projects to real workplace situations. Utilising this approach enables participants to transfer their learnt skills directly into your workplace.
At the commencement of training delivery, the BNIT facilitator will provide an overview of the training program and assessment requirements including timelines. The facilitator will also provide:
- hints on self-directed learning
- information on competency based training and assessment
- and the use of mentoring support
