The Faculty of Information Technology and Education gives you the opportunity to get all the hands-on experience you need while gaining a nationally recognised qualification in one of the following course areas:
Access 10
Develop English and Mathematical skills to bring you to a recognised level from which you can enter post-Year 10 courses, gain employment or achieve other personal goals. The Defence forces recognise the English and Mathematics modules from this course as an alternative to Year 10 entry
Adult Tertiary Preparation
This program is designed to provide a mode of access to tertiary institutions for adult learners independent of the senior secondary school system. It equips graduates with the skills and knowledge needed for successful tertiary study.
Graphic Design
This qualification is designed to provide a broad-based entry to the fields of graphic design, print, illustration, web design, animation, marketing and industry knowledge.
Information Technology (Hardware & Software)
With new and emerging information technology being introduced into the workplace and home environments on a continuing basis, our highly qualified Information Technology team is able to offer practical, industry-relevant programs in areas such as Object Oriented Design, Programming, Systems Administration, Database Applications and Network Engineering.
Literacy & Numeracy (Adult & Vocational)
Designed for people wishing to improve their literacy and/or numeracy skills. Programs offered range from basic to advanced literacy and numeracy and are aimed at students with limited skills through to those wishing to return to study
Migrant Education (Certificates in Spoken & Written English)
Migrant Education at the Bracken Ridge, Redcliffe and Caboolture campuses offer learning pathways to meet the needs of individual student's goals, assist participants wishing to improve their level of English Language skills and provide participants with confidence in listening, speaking, reading, writing and communication skills.
TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)
Certificate IV in TESOL is a course specifically designed to give suitably qualified candidates practical skills to teach English in Australia or internationally.
Students will learn the latest teaching strategies and methodology in practical classes for developing the English language proficiency of a wide range of students. Upon successful completion of the course graduates will have the necessary teaching and linguistic skills to teach English competently and confidently in various situations.
Training & Assessment
This program is a cross industry qualification and applies to people for whom training is a large part of their job, or a full job function within a structured assessment and training system.
Vendor Certifications and short courses
The Faculty of IT has partnered with some of the most outstanding industry vendors in order to bring vendor-specific curriculum to the TAFE classroom. Certifications are available in CompTIA, Linux, Cisco, Microsoft and Project Management plus we are also offering Adobe short courses.
Visual Effects
This program is suitable for students seeking employment within the creative industries with organisations requiring the skills of visual effects artists and designers operating within games development; advertsing (TV and theatre); architectural visualisation; film visual effects; production and post production.
