Environment, Tourism and Logistics

The faculty of Environment, Tourism and Logistics gives you the opportunity to get all the hands-on experience you need while gaining a nationally recognised qualification in one of the following course areas:
Animal Science
We offer a range of courses within the animal industry that can assist you in your current career within a zoo, wildlife or theme park environment, animal laboratory or veterinary clinic. We also deliver the training for your animal studies traineeship.
Or why not try our Companion Animal Services training. This qualification will provide you with a range of skills to assist you in gaining employment in kennels, catteries, pet shops, grooming salons and veterinary practices. We also offer short courses in reptiles and amphibians, aquascapes for fish hobbyists and courses that introduce you to the animal industry.
Arts
Led by a creative team of art practitioners, Brisbane North Institute of TAFE provides a broad range of art programs to suit all kinds of learners. Our students are fortunate to have the opportunity to learn and gain insight from successful artists who have forged careers both nationally and internationally through the Artist in Residence program.
Floristry
Have you ever wanted to own your own floristry business? Or how about entering a floristry career in a floral design studio, flower wholesale or floristry section in a department/retail store? Our Grovely Campus provides Certificate III level training in Floristry that will assist you with entering your floristry career. We also deliver Floristry Workshops and the training for Floristry Traineeships.
Food Processing
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE is at the forefront of Food Processing Workplace Training and Consultancy. We are currently offering training in Certificates I, II and III in Food Processing, to those who are currently working in the industry.
Students may also be eligible for a Traineeship and some cross credits may apply to the competitive manufacturing qualification.
Horticulture
Our Horticulture studies can provide you with an opportunity to study aspects of Horticulture in Landscape, Parks and Gardens, Nursery, Turf/Green Keeping and Floriculture. We also provide apprenticeship and traineeship training for these areas.
Other short study options include organics, nursery propagation, forklift and bobcat licence training and testing and Sustainable Horticulture.
Interior Design
Do you walk into a building and notice that the furniture, wall coverings, fittings and accessories all work together to create a theme? There's a good chance that an interior decorator has been at work. The practical hands-on experience will allow individuals to develop the skills and techniques necessary for employment or self-employment. Students will quickly learn industry standards and the professional attitude required to be successful in this field.
Our vibrant Certificate IV in Interior Design program will enable you to present a range of decoration solutions using modern technologies. You will have the knowledge/skills to advise and provide practical assistance in the selection, co-ordination and decoration of interiors to clients.
Marine
If you have always thought about heading into a career in the Maritime Industry then we have training options that will give you a great start. We deliver training for Occupational Health and Safety at Sea and First Aid, training to assist you in gaining your Coxswain Ticket or to become a Deckhand and training for your Master Class V Licence.
Alternatively our Diploma of Seafood Industry (Fisheries Compliance) qualification may assist you with finding employment as a Patrol Control Officer with the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol or Department of Primary Industries.
Pest Management
Are you interested in gaining your general pest license or Timber Pest Licence? We offer the training to assist you with obtaining these licenses through on campus and correspondence study options. We also offer Traineeships in Pest Management.
Telecommunications
We offer the telecommunications training with co-provider Milcom Communications for CAB-01-Open Registration (Austel Licence/BCL Licence), CAB-08-Structured Cabling (Cat 5, 6 and 7 cabling) and CAB-10-Optical Fibre.
Travel and Tourism
Are you ready for an exciting career that could take you around the world? Our programs are your ticket for positions such as travel agents, wholesalers, airlines (domestic and international) and a range of other key sectors of the rapidly growing tourism industry.
We also deliver the training for Tourism Traineeships. Or if you are interested in heading into a career in Event Coordinating or becoming a Wedding Planner, why not try our Event Management programs?
Warehousing and Logistics
Would you like to gain a qualification whilst you are working? We are offering Certificates I, II, III and IV to people who are currently employed in the warehousing industry.
We also deliver provide the training for the Diploma of Logistics Management program. This program covers the processes of planning, implementing and controlling the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services and related information from point of origin to point of consumption.
